The Creative Industries Federation (CIF) invites you to a focused conversation on intellectual property at CIF Talks: IP Edition

On April 25, the third CIF Talks event will take place in Moscow at the AKI.lab venue. CIF Talks is a dynamic, deep-dive discussion format dedicated to a single, essential topic. This time, it’s all about intellectual property — practical, relevant, and straight to the point.
The first CIF Talks focused on education and talent development in the creative industries. The second explored the export of local creative products from the Russian Far East.
This time, we’ll dive into key IP topics with leading experts and practitioners — including the protection and registration of intangible assets (IA), legal education and awareness, and using intellectual property as collateral for securing bank loans.
The recently adopted law «On the Development of Creative (Cultural) Industries in the Russian Federation» provides a clear definition of a creative product: it is the result — or a combination of results — of intellectual activity. That makes it essential for entrepreneurs and organizations to understand what in their work qualifies as intellectual property, and how to register and protect it effectively.
The event will feature renowned experts in the field of intellectual property.
Sergey Matveev, President of the Intellectual Property Federation, and Evgeny Kutsenko, Director of the «Russian Cluster Observatory» Center at HSE University’s Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge (ISSEK), will present findings from their research on the growth of intangible assets (IA), Ekaterina Chukovskaya, Director of the Digital IP Research and Education Center for Intellectual Property and the Digital Economy, PhD in Law, and Vice President for R&D at the Intellectual Property Federation, will share practical insights on educating entrepreneurs in intellectual property rights protection.
The creative business community will benefit from real-world case studies on IP-backed lending, presented by Anna Grashchenkova, Head of the Intellectual Property Center at the Moscow Innovation Cluster (MIC). Creative exporters will get valuable guidance on how to register IP assets for international markets. The conference will also feature representatives from leading IP registration services, including Online Patent and IPEX.
CIF places strong emphasis on supporting regional development in the creative sector. A dedicated session will highlight the experience of the Russian Center for Circulation of Rights to Creative Outputs (RCCIPO), focusing on the digitalization and creation of regional repositories for intellectual property.
This session will be presented by Irina Yakovleva, Deputy Chair of RCCIPO.
«Promoting a culture of intellectual property is a key driver of interest in creative entrepreneurship and the development of this entire sector,» says Igor M. Namakonov, CEO of Creative Industries Federation (CIF), emphasizing the importance of the upcoming event.
«Today, creators usually turn to legal protection only when a conflict arises or their IP is stolen. Knowing this, we must actively invest in education — starting from middle school — and ensure entrepreneurs have federal access to basic legal consultations.»
CIF Talks: IP Edition welcomes creative entrepreneurs, inventors, and organizations whose work requires intellectual property registration.
The event is free and open to all, but registration is required via the bot: https://t.me/konfa_cif_ip_bot
Start time: 16:00
Venue: AKI.lab, 17 Bolshaya Nikitskaya Street, Bldg. 2, Moscow
Igor M. Namakonov on the format: «We call it CIF Talks because we stripped away everything unnecessary from the traditional conference format — no endless intros, no fluff, no self-promotion, not even coffee breaks. What’s left is a short, focused name and 2.5 hours of distilled, high-impact content. Come and take home a concentrated dose of meaning.»
